ARRIVAL IN LUND

On August 20th, I flew into Copenhagen! I was definitely overwhelmed with emotions before, during, and after my flight but I was just grateful to have made it. At the airport, I was greeted by mentors from Lund University who helped me buy my train ticket from Copenhagen to Lund, over the Øresund Bridge. Once we got to Lund, we were driven to a University building and prompted to check-in at Arrival Day. After waiting in multiple lines and finally checking in, we were all escorted to our accommodations. Unfortunately, I was unable to find housing before I arrived in Lund, but I had been able to book an Airbnb for one week.

The first few days after I arrived in Lund were rough. I felt so lost, and honestly just afraid. I had never been in such an unknown environment. I felt as if I were stuck in the middle of nowhere. However, I think I mostly felt like this because of the uncertainty around my housing situation. I had hoped that it would become easier to find a place to live once I got here but that wasn't necessarily the case.

On Friday, August 23rd, I reached out to an International Coordinator at LUSEM and she was able to forward my contact information to a personal contact of hers who just happened to have a room available in his two-bedroom apartment. I reached out to him and was able to go take a look at the apartment the very next day. By Monday, August 26th, I was all moved into my room! It all seemed way too good to be true, but I had finally found accommodation in Lund - which honestly might have been the greatest struggle I've had to face in my entire 21 years of existence (okay that might be a stretch but you get the point).
